I wake up from the sound of the chants from the nearby pagoda, where the first Cambodians honor their ancestors by offering food and money to the monks. Yet another ten days the Buddhists will celebrate "Pchum Ben" and prevent me from sleeping. My head buzzes, my back hurts and woolly thoughts about work dominate my mind. Now I know: "The Phnom Penh hangover is back." This is an imaginary disease, every expatriate knows and is afraid of. |
