Until tuesday every kind of entertainment in Cambodia will be banned to honor the death former king father Norodom Sihanouk. Prime minister Hun Sen announced on monday last week, that bars, amusement parks, discos and karaokes are not allowed to play music, do shows or hold events for seven days. In addition all schools need to be closed, TV shows, concerts und all public events are not allowed during this time.
The former King Norodom Sihanouk, the Cambodians lovingly refer to him as "king father", is considered one of the most colorful personalities of the 20th Century. Not only that he always remained close to his people, but the patriot also survived the cruel Khmer Rouge regime. Norodom Sihanouk died on monday with 89 years in a hospital in Beijing, because of a heart attack. Eight years ago Sihanouk stepped down from his throne for health reasons.
